Newsflash!

Ok, there's  two things I wanna bring up, one is not as 'important' if you allow, than the other. First one is that I added a teddy bear to the 3D Gallery. I think it turned out nice since it was pretty much my first time dealing with fur.

However, the second thing I wanted to bring up is that I will be redesigning the website. After thinking about it and checking out others portfolios mine is not as good. This means I will have a simple website designed only to showcase my work. No more newsflashes or featured updates like I have now, which is also what I dislike about it. It also creates more work than necessary. So I'll be thinking of designing it after I've finished the contest I'm in over at 3D Buzz (Vampire, Zombie, Werewolf contest). It ends the 7th December so sometime after that I'll start planning. This will be my second last news update, the last update will probably feature the entry I did for that contest.

Cheers!

More entries.

Ok, I've updated the site with finished work I've made, one was the Bee entry and the Halloween. Apart from that I re-arranged some stuff in the 3D Gallery so that the newest things came on top and not bottom. Easier and better that way to see updates, instead of possibly scrolling down to that. Well, that was all really, I'm happy to say I have finally finished these mind numbing side projects which I wanted to get rid off. Now I have a lot more time to spend on Eto.101 my main project and Nexuiz stuff.

New category!

A cool new day has appeared. I have added a new category called 'Animation' where I will showcase and.. you guess it, finshed animations I've created. Currently there is only one thing but over time there will be more. With finished animations I mean all complete, no rough stages or anything. There are more animations in this portfolio (mainly the player model I'm working on) but they are not finished thus why they are not going to be displayed there yet.

Well, that's all I had to say for today. Cheers mates!

Added storyboards.

I've been making a few updates here and there. I've re-arranged the Eto.101 section and added storyboards as well. That's pretty much the biggest update.
However, I'm thinking of redoing the entire site to a more friendly and 'real' portfolio 3D gallery and not having it how it is now. I'll take some more time thinking about this. Will have to look through other peoples 3D portfolios.

Nexuiz player model update!

This will be a rather short newsflash I believe. I'm just basically going to say that I have resumed the animations for the formely know player model 'Ivan'. I have actually renamed this model to 'Nexus' as was originally intended so that when it's finished it will replace the current Nexuz player model.

So, I've made a few more animations and I've posted videos on that on YouTube (links below). Take a look at those if you wish and I also appreciate any comments regarding these to make them as good as possible.
I have currently created a few more animations but not released a video on that yet, I will wait till I have some more finished.
Alongside this, I have realized that there are many animations that are missing, or actully, not even included (like duck strafe, duck shoot and duck backwards). I will talk to the developers to see if they plan on changing it if they have someone willing to animate for them. But I suppose it's not such an easy task to do.

Anyway, check out the current animations at this link, there are 3 videos, and more to come soon enough:

Texture pack release!

Ok, today I updated and released a texture pack I have made. All textures are free and released under the GPL license, you may use them however you see fit under those circumstances, for games, movies, personal projects even for commercial use as GPL does allow that. Take a look at the textures here.

Added references.

Ok, I've updated the 3D gallery in the way that I have added the real life references I've been using to create the models, of course, only for those models that I actually had references for.
I've also added two new models (rather simple actually but still) in the 3D gallery, a 'Amulet' and something which I call 'Generic Prop' (didn't come up with a better name for that).
There are still one or two models which needs references and I'm gonna photograph it as soon as I can and update the gallery.

On a different update. I am currently involved in several, non-commercial, games as a 3D modeler. I am working on animations for player models mainly for now, there are still much to be done but once it is I will uprise you here.

A small update and a new project!

First of, I made a small update to the 'Nexuiz Projects' section, now when you click on the images they will open up in a bigger view and if you want to read more about the project you'd need to click the link below it.

The other thing is I've started with a weapon model for Nexuiz, mainly the gun named Nex which is a railgun type. There's really not much to tell yet, I've just started with it and just finished the high poly version for a normal map. Now I'll have to create the low poly version and continue on from there.

Well, short news but that's that! I'll see you around!

Frontpage projects update!

Where to start... I've just now updated the frontpage with featured projects I'm working on, mainly only two projects. One is the character for the Eto.101 project which I have started to texture. Now, I've created a lot more than just the texture, like bumps and fine detail in ZBrush and a displacement map as well. When I took these renders I didn't turn them on as it would slow the rendering process when I textured (it already takes a long time due to the fact that I have a broken motherboard, which makes the ports malfunction and slow them down, and I also only have 1 GB RAM). Meh, I need to buy a new one.
Anyway, the characters texture obviously have seems, but I will take care of them once the whole texture is done (which is nearly finished) in ZBrush or someting. The only thing left to give more attention is the hands.

The other project I'm working on is the player model 'Ivan' for the game Nexuiz. Now, I haven't created the model and the texture but I am rigging it and creating animations. Once one or two animations are finished I test them out in-game to see if gives me the result I want. Currently I've created 3 animations out of 24, so to say. I will probably create another so the total will be 25 animations. I basically need to create a whole new animation and integrate it with the game cause currently, the system it uses now is a bit bad. I won't go into details but I will say that I did convince the developers to include yet another one and change the current player models system as well to make this work. All for a nicer visual experience.

Well, that's that for this time.

Updated the '3D Gallery' in the portfolio section.

I have added 'View More' buttons in the '3D Gallery'. Before, when you clicked on the image you'd be taken to that specific project page. Now when you click on those images you actually will be opening up that image to it's full resolution.
So you can choose if you want to see more images (and read about the project) by clicking the 'View More' button, and not being forced there by default. I think it's a bit more friendly and straight to the point. Saves time as well.

Domination points finished!

Just like the title suggests, I just finished the domination points for the open source game Nexuiz. Domination is a gamemode where there's up to 4 teams trying to capture and hold these points.
well, more than this I suppose isn't necessary to say, if you want know more about the process just go there and start reading.

I've also updated some other pages and projects here and there. Finished up the flag section as I saw it wasn't complete, added some wireframe images for those flags and for the portals, changed text and descriptions and so on and so on. Nothing major though.
Well, till next time.

Back with new stuff!

I'm back again to update this site. This time I have a couple of new things to bring up.
I've actually been working real hard even though it might not seem like that from the outside. Been creating models here and there. However, the biggest news are probably a couple of models for Nexuiz.
Nexuiz now has a couple of new models, both made by me and by other people. The models made by me would be the rocket ammo, machinegun ammo, ctf flags (yes they've been done for quite some time now I just haven't updated this site till now) and lastly a prop model for use in Nexuiz (and other open source) maps.

Take a look around at the new stuff see what you think about it, if you have any comments you can just put them in the guestbook. I'm sorry about those ads in the guestbook, they weren't there when I got it and now it's too late to change it. Well, unless I actually finda much much better one.

Very soon now Nexuiz will go out with a new version, 2.5. In that version all of these models will be included (minus the skeleton as it's not used in any of the official maps, yet). Maybe one day it will be. The skeleton was made for a Nexuis friend for his map (which probably won't be official).

Well then, time to wrap up and let you go about your business. Have a good day.
Cheers.

Image display script.

Today I added an image display script to pretty much all the images. This is something I always wanted and this one seemed nice. The script comes alive whenever you press an image to take a look at it.
The only section which doesn't have this script is the 'Textures' tab in the portfolio section. For two reasons mainly, one it should be easy to download those images, and two... this script didn't work there. Apparently it doesn't work with offsite links or it's just that the website where those images are hosted blocks this sort of script.

But no bigger loss anyway.
That's all I had for today. Till next time.
Cheers.

Nexuiz portals model finished!

That's right, today I finished the portals model for Nexuiz. Concept, model, textures, glow, gloss and normal map was made by me. The code needed some changes in order for these portals to show up properly and Kristian 'morfar' Johansson took care of that. He also helped with creating .skin files (files that store the texture information), a shader to make the vortex (the middle part of the model) wavy, rotate and a bit transparent, and lastly bug proofed it.

There was some 'last minute' changes, so to speak, where I changed the vortex as the shader animation made it stick out of the model and you could see through it. So I had to go back into Maya and fix that on the model level.

Also, congratulations to Kristian for very recently becoming a co-maintainer of the game Nexuiz. He also submitted this model into the 'SVN' version so the next release will feature these portals. The SVN version is where all the new changes takes place which will be included in the upcoming version, for you who wonder.

That's all I had for today.
Cheers peeps!

Textures! New portfolio category!

Today I opened a new portfolio category called 'Textures'. This category serves two purposes, first they showoff what I've done, a nice portfolio, and they are also available for download for free. That's not all, you can use these textures any way you see fit, if it is for personal use, commercial or in GPL environments such as GPL games. Which some of them are specifically made for, that is for Nexuiz.

So, enjoy the textures and have a good one.

New project up and running and some updates.

I've started working on the portals model for the game Nexuiz and added a few images of it and a description. I've also finally finished the 'Nexuiz Learning Material' section and filled it with necessary equivalent stuff. Be sure to check that out. I honestly don't know what I've been doing the last couple of weeks so I cannot really fill you guys in on that. I'm trying to remember what I've been doing, no luck. So I suppose this is it for this time. I'm hoping to finish the texturing process of this portal rather quickly but we'll see how it will go.
I'm planning on using MapZone for that and I don't know that application fully so I will need to learn it a bit before.

Cheers guys and gals.

Website portfolio.

Added a website page to the portfolio section. All the websites I've done or will be made is going to be displayed there. This doesn't just relate to normal websites, such as HTML, CSS, PHP etc. but also flash sites. Either made entirely in flash or partially.

Added more images.

I've been adding more images in various categories and now I'm gonna sum them up. Been continuing on the 3D Buzz Halloween competition, added some pumkins (the last thing I did) in the scene and uploaded the images.

Today I've took time to update the Eto.101 project, been rendering out some images to show the progress. However first I'm going to be concentrating on the 3D Buzz competition, once that is over I'll be going back to the Eto.101 project. As well as some Nexuiz projects I've been keeping on hold. I did animate the flag and such but the export scripts and the file extensions Nexuiz uses makes it hard for me to implement those animations. I'll see if I cannot get some help from someone who has already done things like that.

Well, more to come later. Have a good day.

Portfolio site finished!

Finally everything has been created and updated. The whole site is now filled with projects and images concerning different stuff I'm working on or have done.
It will of course update as time goes on, but now no more pages to add for the completion of the portfolio. It's been along road and now it's coming to it's close. I can now start concentating on the projects at hand and not worry about finishing the portfolio site.

On another update. Nexuiz is looking for developers to help with the game. They are in need or programmers and coders but also looking for other various positions such as modelers. I'm going to sign up for that and I'll see what happens. I hope they find programmers (QuakeC) as there's currently onle one active and he has too much pressure on him. If he goes the Nexuiz development will be at complete stop and no more updates. It would be sad if that happend. So if you know QuakeC go over to the Alientrap forums and sign up!

3D Gallery - Facelift

Today I've worked on redoing the 3D Gallery. It took quite a while but it was worth it. Now there's just one more thing I'll be changing with it and that is redoing the description of the projects a bit. Once the 3D Gallery is done it's only the Eto.101 page left and then the whole portfolio will be as good as finished.
Also, redone the banner just a tad more, to make it look more "spiffy".

So, now I'm going to sleep as it's late and I'm tired. Have a good night.

Nexuiz projects added and site color change

Added more stuff in the "Nexuiz Projects" category. Projects that I'm working on (only 1 for now) and 3 planned projects. More information about that over there.

And I changed my style from gray and boring atmoshpere to a blue-ish, more cheery and pleasant on the eyes. Switched out that old banned with the current blue one. Hope you like it.
That's all for updates today.

Next things I'm going to take care of is the 3D Gallery, adding more links and stuff in the 'Eto.101' project section.
Till next time!

Small update.

Ok, the website got a little more stuff in it and I change the width from 1000 pixels to 900 instead. I added a new function to the '3D Gallery', instead of a new window opening I accidentally found some embed code I now use. It's all thanks to my connection which was so slow that the gallery site didn't load completely, and I saw some stuff you normally didn't. So I suppose it was a function I missed.

Good thing for me, as I didn't like the gallery opening in a new window.
Oh, by the way, if you want the external link for the gallery here it is: http://www.3dgallery.kurotorobert.com

Guestbook online!

Ok, so I accidentally stumbled upon a guestbook when I was just surfing around. Wasn't even trying to find anything of value however, when I saw this guestbook I gave it a shot. Now it is ridiculously easy and fast to install one of these so I figured I give it a try. I never intended to spend many hours to get a guestbook up and running and this seems like a nice solution. However, this one has a drawback. Because this guestbook is a javascript (and a javascript I can't change due to encryption and stuff) this guestbook messes up my portfolio site a bit. Whenever you enter the guestbook the links and size of the font changes. It also messes up the footer at the bottom (along with the left menu at the bottom).

However though, these seems like such minor errors so I might just ignore that. But if I find another nice, free and easy to install guestbook that do not have these problems I might go with that one. It depends whether people, and if so how many, actually signed my guestbook.

Of course there's also an external link to the guestbook and clicking on it will solve all these problems, but I just like to have it in my actual portfolio without having to open another tab/window.

Well, that's it. That's all I wanted to write here, to just inform you of these thing and that I am aware of these.
Thank you.

PS: If you're interested about that external link, here it is: http://www.a-free-guestbook.com/gb/Kuroto

Portfolio design almost complete.

At least that's what I think. I think most of the design will stay the way it is, however if things move around like the menu's or some colors will change or whatever then that's just the way it goes. I'll be asking for input from other people and see what they think. I'm going to see if I cannot install some kind of guestbook, that way people will have an easy time "inputting" so to speak, if they wanted to.

Anyway, I'll see what will happen the next couple of days.

New portfolio online!

I've finally got a portfolio website online. However this current template is not what the portfolio will look like. I will during the next days/weeks work on this portfolio site to make it just the way I want it.
